Cinema Lumière

Cinema Lumière is the public screening venue of the Cineteca di Bologna, one of Europe's foremost film archives, named in tribute to the Lumière brothers, Auguste and Louis, who invented cinema in 1895. The Cineteca has an international reputation for meticulous film restorations — Chaplin, Fellini, and Pasolini prints among them — many of which premiere here in their restored versions. Programming spans silent film retrospectives with live musical accompaniment to contemporary arthouse releases, frequently paired with introductions and post-screening discussions.
