Deutsches Romantik-Museum

The German Romantic Museum in Frankfurt am Main opened on 14 September 2021 as the world's first museum devoted to the era of German Romanticism. It displays roughly 35,000 manuscripts, letters, first editions and paintings collected by the Freies Deutsches Hochstift since 1911 - originals by Novalis, the Brothers Grimm, Caspar David Friedrich and Bettina von Arnim. The new building is part of the Goethe Courtyards complex at Grosser Hirschgraben 17-21 and connects directly to the neighbouring Goethe House. Architecture and staging are deliberately atmospheric: a sky-blue entrance and library-like book cases. Admission around ten euro, combined ticket with Goethe House recommended.
