Memorial on the grounds of the former Neuengamme concentration camp in Hamburg, documenting Nazi crimes and commemorating over 100,000 prisoners.
The Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial stands on the site of the former camp in Hamburg's Bergedorf district, where over 100,000 prisoners were held between 1938 and 1945. At least 42,900 people died – in the main camp, across more than 85 satellite camps, and during the death marches in the final weeks of the war. The memorial includes a documentation centre with permanent exhibitions, surviving factory buildings, and outdoor memorial areas. It is one of the most important sites of remembrance in northern Germany.
