Tarihi Kız Lisesi

Also known as: Altınkoza Sanat Galerisi ve Tarihi Eski Kız Lisesi

The Tarihi Kız Lisesi is a late-Ottoman government building in central Adana, constructed between 1881 and 1883 under provincial governor Abidin Pasha — grandfather of the Turkish writer and artist Abidin Dino. Commissioned during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamit II and partly funded through public contributions, it opened as a military secondary school before being expanded in 1885 into a civil preparatory school. After 1908 the institution transitioned into a girls' high school, giving the building its present popular name; the educational continuity it represents spans over a century of the city's social history. Today the structure is classified as a historic monument and stands as one of the few surviving examples of late-19th-century Ottoman provincial architecture in Adana.
