City-Haus

City-Haus I on Platz der Republik in Frankfurt's Westend district is a 142-metre office tower from the peak phase of West German skyscraper building. Built from 1971 to 1974 to plans by Johannes Krahn and Richard Heil for the Frankfurt developer Edmund Selmi, it is still locally known as the Selmi-Hochhaus. The narrow, vertically articulated tower was one of the first true skyscrapers in Frankfurt and held the title of tallest office building in Germany for a few years. The Dresdner Bank was the long-term main tenant. The building is part of the Westend skyline ensemble along Mainzer Landstrasse, next to Westend Tower and Westend Gate. There is no observation deck or skywalk; the tower is pure office space. From the Bockenheimer Anlage park it photographs particularly well.
