Esplora
Also known as: Esplora Interactive Science Centre
Esplora is Malta's national interactive science centre, opened on 28 October 2016 in Kalkara and operated by the Malta Council for Science and Technology. Its two main exhibition halls hold over 200 hands-on exhibits spanning physics, biology, engineering, and space science — everything is designed to be touched and tested rather than merely observed. The on-site planetarium screens several short films daily, and booking in advance is recommended on weekends. A life-size dinosaur model in the outdoor area has become a favourite with toddlers before they even step inside. Adult tickets are priced at €12 and include a café voucher; the centre also runs themed workshops and educational theatre sessions throughout the day, making it a full half-day destination for families.
