Red Valley view point

The Red Valley Viewpoint sits on the rim of the eponymous valley near Göreme in Cappadocia, looking out over a sweeping landscape of iron-rich tuff rock eroded into towers, gullies, and terraced cliffs. The valley takes its name from the deep red and amber hues of its ferrous stone, which intensify dramatically in the final hour before sunset — a phenomenon that draws crowds each evening and makes early arrival worthwhile. The viewpoint is reachable by car along a short access road with a parking fee; a quieter hiking trail offers an alternative approach. From the rim, longer trails descend into the valley past rock-cut chapels and old vineyard terraces for visitors who want more than the view from above.
