HMS Maori Wreck
The HMS Maori wreck sits in shallow water just off the walls of Valletta, making it one of Malta's most accessible dive sites. The British Tribal-class destroyer was hit during a German air raid in Grand Harbour in February 1942 and sank; her hull was later towed to its current position, where it has functioned as an artificial reef for decades. Sections of the wreck reach close to the surface, keeping the dive well within reach of beginners, though visibility fluctuates significantly with sea conditions — glassy days reward with crystal-clear water, while rough weather turns the site murky. A short staircase leads directly into the water from the parking area, and local dive operators including Dive Deep Blue run guided dives to the site.
