Prague rewards curious visitors with layers of history waiting to be read in its streets and institutions. The Old Town Hall and its Astronomical Clock stand as testament to medieval craftsmanship, while the National Technical Museum traces the path to modern science and industry. The City of Prague Museum and the Bedřich Smetana Museum offer windows into urban and cultural history, and Bethlehem Chapel connects to the early reform movement of Jan Hus. Bertramka, the Powder Tower, Our Lady of the Snows, the National Memorial on Vítkov, Čech Bridge, and náměstí U svatého Jiří each add their own chapter to the city's story.

The monument to Czech linguist Josef Jungmann stands on Jungmann Square in the heart of Prague, not far from Wenceslas Square. Erected in 1878, the bronze statue honours one of the most important figures of the 19th-century Czech National Revival. Jungmann compiled the first major Czech-German dictionary and contributed decisively to standardising the modern Czech language. The monument is a quietly symbolic presence in Prague's urban fabric – a tribute to the power of language as a vehicle for national identity.
